  • More Valuable:Management or Leadership (Video)

There are many managers, who can read spreadsheets, ensure stability and growth, but how does one get there. I think the best thing a manager can do to galvanize a workforce — show leadership.

As a global leader, which would you pick as most vital: Management or Leadership?

integral roles in effectiveness, of both small and large endeavors.

Management: the acceptable results within known constraints and conditions, but what makes a good manager — a great manager: leadership. There are many managers, who can read spreadsheets, look to ensure stability and pursue growth initiatives, but how does one get there. I think the best thing a manager can do to galvanize a workforce through excellence and innovation — show leadership.

Most people speak about management and leadership as exclusive measures, but I believe effective and efficient performance should be cultivated by a manager, who is a world class operator, who also is an inspirational leader. I believe the difference between management and leadership: management will lay out the strategies, tactics and metrics to achieve the goal, and leadership is when someone can personalize the goal where it resonates enough that all parties want to personally contribute to meeting that goal.

I think the great leaders are those that understand operations — they understand how the task connects to the person performing it: the barriers and rewards: they are stern, supportive and inspirational — but ruthless in capturing their objectives.

I found a great video on YouTube, where some famous business leaders examine the difference between management and leadership.  Tell me what you think the difference is and how this post will help you make better decisions in the future.

    Good Luck.
