  • Teach A Man To Fish

Great teachers obtain the exact response they’re trying to elicit: changed, improved lives.

Is education a form of selling? Can they be the same thing?

Done properly, there is no better selling technique than education.

At its core, real teaching is the selling of ideas. Great teachers obtain the exact response they’re trying to elicit: changed, improved lives.

Selling focuses desire on what you have to offer. A smart teacher does just that. He shows you intellectually why certain facts are beneficial for you to know.

Have you noticed that the more you learn, the more you find out that you don’t know? The more clearly you see the problems that exist in theworld? Teachers show you that you have a dire need, and then convince you to get the education you need to overcome those difficulties.

To be clear, giving out information is not salesmanship by default. The instructor has to have a sense of purpose and proceed with a particular end result in mind.

By creating awareness of a problem and offering a resolution, teachers are known to change the world.

Learning a powerful, relevant lesson creates more internal tension than any other kind of sales pitch. Purposeful teaching is selling at its best.

Karl Marx is quoted as saying “Sell a man a fish, he eats for a day, teach a man how to fish, you ruin a wonderful business
    opportunity.

There’s nothing wrong with selling a man a fish. Or setting up an arrangement where anytime he’s hungry, he buys fish from you. Most
people would prefer to buy fish than to learn to catch them themselves anyway…

But anyone who can to improve lives by teaching hungry people to fish, will always be in demand.
