  • President Obama: A Lot of Nerve

There couldn’t be more of a wrong man to say this at this point.

President Barack Obama has “A Lot of Nerve.” He should be quite embarrassed that he showed up at to speak at the Congressional Black Caucus dinner, and exhorted part of his new reelection campaign rhetoric to minorities, “Stop Complaining and Fight.

There couldn’t be a more wrong man to say this at this point.

There has been a conspicuous absence of leadership by President Obama on all things associated with minorities. I think he got stuck between how to be president for all Americans, and how not to look like he is favoring minorities – the same ones, who ushered him into office.

For a man, who has not fought for his liberal base – fought for minorities – fought for increased women’s visibility and value – did not fight for Health Care with the Public Option, unnecessarily genuflected on the Debt Ceiling – so this is not the man to talk about fighting for anything.

President Obama must have forgotten or become indifferent to the fact, that on a November morning, black people, who had never voted before, stood in line – sometimes for hours – and voted away slavery and Jim Crow, while voting for the possibility of now, and nothing. Those people, my people – black people have seen no interests or investment from the president, unless you were from the arts or sports. There’s a real world that is crushing black people – black unemployment is not 17% like the president said, it’s more like 30%, when you add those – who have stopped looking for work altogether.

I thought this president would have the empathy to help those, who needed help most: those who’ve had to and continually face the most disadvantages – and his policies are no different than those of the previous president. I don’t know what to make of it – but I believe Obama feels he can say and do nothing without consequence – and somehow – through measures within our best interests – minorities need to challenge him on this.

We might be hoping ourselves into waiting on a destiny – that someone is not even considering.

    Good luck.
