  • More U.S. Business Schools: Wiser to the World

Many business schools are now accepting the GRE test. They realize that they might suffer from a self-inflicted form of myopia, because they seem to attract the same types of potential financial wizards.

It might not seem like much, but many business schools are now accepting the GRE test, mostly used for those in the Social Sciences or Humanities. This is purposeful, because business schools realize that they might suffer from a self-inflicted form of myopia, because they seem to attract the same types of potential financial wizards.

But as the world changes more, it’s becoming an asset to have a more diverse perspective to understand the multitude of implications for today’s finance and economics – and how they relate to the rest of the world, in both micro and macro measure.

The Wall Street Journal article More Business Schools To Accept GRE Scores, states that, “The aim is to attract students who might otherwise have considered graduate study in public policy, economics or other disciplines. Schools want more than just “quant jocks” or single-minded financial experts, said Scott Shrum, director of M.B.A. admissions research at test-prep and admissions consulting firm Veritas Prep.”

I hope that all Upstart: Business and Management for 20-40 Year Old Professionals members, who are considering business school, see this as a moment, where business schools realize that there is a better way to equip potential business professionals, as opposed to having them hyper-invested within areas that are exclusively financial, which don’t consider the impact of their decisions outside of their own analysis.

The more business professionals can see how not only their choices impact people, places and things, they might also see how much they might can assist some situations, which have rarely received strong consideration for upgrade.

    Good Luck.
